A more balanced management
The meeting promoted by the Department of Agriculture, rural development, hunting and fishing of the Tuscany region was held this morning in Florence to illustrate the main contents of the proposal on New Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan. As is well known, our Association has for some time called for the need to speed up the process of the new Regional Wildlife and Hunting Plan; an act of strategic and urgent planning to lay new foundations for wildlife and environmental management, to interact positively with the agricultural world, with the aim of generating a balanced management of wildlife in synergy with the restoration of habitats and the increase in biodiversity . Management choices, which in our opinion, will have to take into account above all the new CAP 2023-2027 and the Community Strategy on Biodiversity which sets precise objectives to be achieved by 2030 which could generate positive effects for wildlife populations including those of hunting interest.
Organic presentation of the proposals
In the recent conference promoted on these topics by Federcaccia Toscana - Unione Cacciatori Toscani held in Florence on 15 April in collaboration with the Tuscany Region, the Councilor and Vice-President Stefania Saccardi had already announced the desire to arrive at an organic presentation of the proposals on the New Wildlife Plan which will have to be followed by a discussion with all the stakeholders to arrive at a widely shared text. The FIdC-UCT regional president Marco Salvadori and the Vice-President Luciano Monaci took part in today's meeting, addressed to all agricultural and hunting associations, ATCs and stakeholders. The speakers illustrated the main focuses with particular reference to sedentary noble game, migratory avifauna and management of ungulates.
Involvement of the territories
As soon as the official text is available, our structure will prepare its own observations and proposals which will be supported by a widespread involvement of the territories and by the work already previously developed by the technical structure. On the sidelines of the meeting, the approval of the Roe deer selection hunting sampling plan was also confirmed, which will be approved by the Regional Council today and of the selection hunting sampling plan for the wild boar species, which will presumably be approved next Monday May 29 (source: Federcaccia).
