Practical hunting test
Saturday 17 December, in the afternoon, and Sunday 18 in the morning, the dog training area of limbiate, headquarters of the local Federcaccia section, organized a dog/hunter test and a practical hunting test on red partridges. This test was organized continuing the historic tradition of the Limbiate Section of organizing an event to exchange Christmas greetings but, taking place in the open hunting season, a limited participation had been taken into account compared to the analogous tests that take place from March to then. Instead, to the enormous surprise and great satisfaction of the organizers, registrations were closed earlier than expected, forcing the secretariat to reject some competitors who had arrived in the queue. As always happens in this field, subjects among the strongest in Lombardy have trod the ground.
The work of dogs
Luckily fairly stable conditions favored the work of the dogs and indeed partly confused the sense of smell of many who, in the continuation of the shifts, had to unravel an intricate tangle of olfactory information deposited by the slaughters carried out by the previous competitors. The success of the event was sealed by the FIDC delegate Maurizio Masiero, orchestrated by Renato Novati and the staff of the Limbiate section. The event was masterfully judged by a couple made up of the expert Judge Fiorenzo Cortinovis and the novice Deborah Savoia.
We thank the presence of various professional dog lovers who have raised the technical prestige of the event even further (Mariliano Mazzoleni with his sons Umberto and Gabriele, Battista Maggioni, Cristiano Formenti and Simone Stefanoni, among others). The latter in particular took part both actively in the test and even just as spectators because, as the expert ENCI judge (also a very welcome guest of the event) Angelo Bonacina reminded us, high-level dog lovers start from our "nursery" of amateur tests (source: FIDC).
