An emergency to manage
The Commissioner in charge of following and managing the African swine fever (ASF) emergency, Vincent Caputo, has signed an ordinance that concerns precisely this pathology and which has to do with those who allow themselves to hinder the control of wild boars. Predictions are very important and aim to curb the disease in a more effective way.
The criminal consequences
Here is what we read in the text issued in the last few hours: "For the period of validity of this ordinance, any acts of damage, tampering or obstruction of operations carried out during the capture operations for the depopulation of wild boars in restricted areas identified for the purposes of the eradication of African swine fever, the provisions of articles 340 - Interruption of a public office or service or of a service of public necessity - and 500 - Spread of a disease of plants and animals - of the penal code will apply " .
The ordinance continues: "In built-up areas where capture structures are temporarily set up, the competent local authority, in agreement with the mayors, will be able to prohibit the area from habitual attendance in order to prevent further delays in capture operations and prevent the spread of the virus”.
